Discover the most magnificent beauty products we’ve been trying and loving – from the best bargain scented candles and relaxing bath treats to our instant sleep secret.
So The Beauty Best started out life as a little Instagram Stories feature where we’d share the very best beauty products we’d been trying out and enjoying. And apparently some of you don’t use Instagram, while others wanted to find the products we’d recommended – and were disappointed to find that after 24 hours they had vanished! So we’re bringing The Beauty Best to the blog – so you’ll be able to check in and see what brilliant beauty products we’ve been loving of late.
Candles. Do we need them? Not really. Do we love them? OH YES. Beauty Pie’s gorgeous scented candles are sourced from the South of France and use artisanal perfume blends to fill your home with fragrance. Best of all? You can get candles worth £40 for as little as £14. Our favourites? Tuberose is a pretty, floral scent with violet, jasmine and ylang ylang, and we can’t get enough of Ambre Santal which has notes of sexy patchouli, sandalwood and vanilla.
Face mask = essential part of Sunday evening’s routine at Reading in Heels HQ. Inspired by Ayurveda, the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask from The Body Shop is a bit of a multi-tasking wonder. Made with bamboo charcoal, green tea leaves and tea tree oil, this banishes impurities and shrinks pores, while leaving skin healthy and radiant. And ready to face Monday head on.
‘Beautifully formulated to soothe your skin and uplift your senses’ is what Marks & Sparks new Lifeology range promises – sounds good to us. Those of who like your bathroom to look like a posh hotel spa will appreciate the Instagrammable packaging with its gold lettering and watercolour print – but what about the product inside? The range features products in three scents including Waterlily & Pink Pepper and Lemongrass & Thyme, with all sorts of body treats on offer. The indulgent scented bath foam has got our name all over it!
Trouble sleeping? BetterYou’s Body Butter is rich in magnesium oil helping you to drift off to sleep. Slather on pre-slumber for a peaceful night’s sleep – it’s even better after a long, soothing soak in the tub! Packed with shea butter, cocoa butter, coconut oil and vitamin E, it’s also super nourishing, perfect for this time of year.
H&M’s new perfume range? Scents that smell a billion dollars without the spendy price tag. Created by award-winning perfumer Olivier Pescheux, our favourite has to be the sensual, subtly-spiced Makassar Patchouli with notes of tobacco and leather while Santalum is a beautiful masculine-feminine blend that will have everyone asking you what you’re wearing, and Rose Absolute is a modern, sexy take on the traditional floral. The handbag-sized perfume oils are the perfect post-work pick-up.
And Other Stories’ new haircare collection is inspired by LA life: from beachy days to glamorous nights out. Designed to suit all hair types, the range comprises Restore, Fullness and Universal products, and each has a delicious scent linked to an LA neighbourhood. And that sleek packaging’s definitely going to look HOT in your bathroom, right?
As it gets colder, we love a comforting body moisturiser to keep skin supple and hydrated. and Dove’s DermaSpa Cashmere Comfort does just that. This is designed for very dry skin, but whatever your skin type, it absorbs instantly despite the rich formulation. The scent is luxurious and at this price, you can afford to apply from top to toe!
As high street beauty brands go, Bourjois is a goody. We’re big fans of their foundations and iconic blush pots, but these metallic liquid eyeshadows have earned their place as a dressing table staple. Long-wearing but super lightweight, these blend easily for a flattering finish. Tres belle, mademoiselle!
